Brunei - Unitary Islamic Constitutional sultanate

A bit of classical Islamic architecture in downtown Bandar, Brunei, the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque stands as a tribute to Sultan Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien. The Sultan, father of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is regarded as
the architect of modern Brunei. Anchored in a lagoon beside the Mosque is a replica of a 16th century Mahligai, or royal barge, where religious ceremonies were held during the 1960 and 1970.

The 30-year-old heir to the throne of this tiny oil-rich sultanate and his bride, 17 year old girl Dayangku Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman forged a royal union at the BersandingHis Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'Izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan
